Bill ... decorated war hero who served approximately 18 months (starting Jan. 26, 2007) in Iraq and one year in Afghanistan ... served in the Army from 2006-10 ... achieved the military rank of Sargeant ... involved in Battle of Kamdesh in Afghanistan on Oct. 3, 2009, when 300 Taliban insurgents battled with 38 U.S. troops; eight Americans lost their lives and 22 were injured, including Rodriguez.
KYLE BULLARD - HOUSTON
Kyle took over starting placekicking duties vs. USF ... finished the year a perfect six-of-six on field goals with a long of 46 yards vs. Louisville ... hit a 30-yard field goal, a 22-yard field goal and three 27-yard field goals on the year as well ... perfect on all 20 extra point attempts ... was sixth on the team in scoring with 38 points ... also had one kickoff for 62 yards against UTSA.
LUKE BOYD - LSU
Boyd is — and he might be, he said, the only active Marine in Division I football. The speedy 5-foot-10, 175-pounder did enough in the Marine corps football league in 2011 to gain MVP honors, an award that came with a substantial prize: He got to announce a selection at the 2012 NFL draft. Boyd, in full Marine uniform, announced the 12th pick of the third round: Russell Wilson, the former Wisconsin quarterback and now star for the Seattle Seahawks.
JORDAN SIMONE - ARIZONA STATE
Earned a scholarship Aug. 21, 2014, and soldified a starting spot at safety by the third game of 2014. Redshirt Junior (2014): Made his first career start in the opener against Weber State (8/28), logging three tackles. Had a career game against UNM (9/6) with a career high seven tackles and his first career fumble recovery. Was the star of the game against Colorado (9/13), logging a career-high 13 tackles with two coming for loss.
